Access to quality healthcare and nutrition is essential for
human dignity, yet many rural communities still lack these services.
Through Mobile Health Units, anemia reduction campaigns, Poshan Vatikas, and
awareness sessions, Aatapi Seva Foundation provided screenings, counseling,
and medical support to pregnant women, adolescent girls, and families. By
combining clinical care, nutrition initiatives, and community awareness, the
programmes promote health literacy and sustainable well-being for rural
families.
A. Jambusar Health (Anemia Reduction Programme)
The Anemia Reduction Programme in Jambusar reached 1,500 pregnant women,
lactating mothers, and adolescent girls across five villages. Baseline
findings showed high anemia levels, including 88% among pregnant women in
Silvassa. To address this, 225 Poshan Vatikas were established, growing
iron-rich vegetables to improve nutrition intake. Distribution of Iron
Folic Acid (IFA) tablets achieved 88% compliance, helping reduce anemia and
strengthen awareness of maternal health and healthy dietary practices.
B. SUMAN (Silvassa)
The SUMAN project in Silvassa addressed anemia among pregnant mothers and
adolescent girls, reaching 1,378 beneficiaries during the reporting period.
The initiative achieved strong recovery results, with 81% of pregnant mothers
and 42% of adolescent girls overcoming anemia. Through counselling,
follow-ups, and awareness sessions, the project promoted
preventive healthcare and improved maternal health outcomes in
the community.
C. Mobile Health Unit – Project Jivan Sanjeevani
Project Jivan Sanjeevani deployed a Mobile Health Unit across 14 villages in
Vagra Block, operating for 275 days and providing 15,117 consultations. The
unit delivered services such as dental and gynecology clinics, multi-specialty
camps, and health awareness sessions. A total of 56 specialised sessions on
topics like tuberculosis and heatstroke prevention promoted
preventive healthcare and improved access to healthcare for
remote communities.
Voices from the Field
“During pregnancy, I felt weak and tired. After regular health check-ups
and iron tablets, my health improved. I now understand the importance of
nutrition for myself and my child.”
